There's no telling why the Muslim women in the US dress the way they do. I knew one women at GMU that wore the full get up mostly as a statement of pride. "I'm a Muslim, what are you going to do about it?" was her basic idea. In the US, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they choose to wear what they wear.
The woman in the article didn't mail the pictures herself, someone at the party did. In any case, the fact that pictures of your wife fully clothed floating around are grounds for divorce over here is pretty damning in my opinion..
